KAPYA has just renewed its rental contract for another 3 years.
That’s right – we’re here to stay on Wuding Lu. For a restaurant to secure a 3-year renewal, it’s more than just signing a piece of paper. It’s a testament to the trust we’ve built, the community we’ve grown, and the genuine love for authentic Turkish food that our guests have shown us since day one.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
When we first opened our doors at 479-1 Wuding Lu, we hoped to create more than just a place to eat. We wanted to build a small window to Turkey – a space where the warmth of Turkish hospitality meets the vibrant energy of Shanghai.
Now, looking back, we’re incredibly grateful for the journey.
From the early days when founder Ugur would greet every single guest personally, to hosting packed World Cup screenings and intimate gender reveal parties, we’ve had the privilege of being part of your celebrations, your date nights, your business dinners, and your everyday moments.
The 3-year renewal isn’t just a business milestone. It’s a promise. A promise that we’ll continue to serve you the same authentic charcoal-grilled kebabs, the same homemade meze, and the same warm hospitality that you’ve come to love.
A Year of Success in Jing’an’s Turkish Food Scene
Over the past year, KAPYA has carved out its own special place in Jing’an’s vibrant dining landscape.
At the livelier end of Wuding Lu, we’ve stood out from the burger joints and craft beer bars with a menu rooted in authentic Turkish flavors. Our charcoal-grilled meats, slow-cooked lamb, and a lineup of familiar meze—hummus, smoky eggplant, the works—have found a loyal following.

- A founder who cares. Ugur, who has been in Shanghai for 18 years, is almost always on hand, personally welcoming guests, explaining dishes, and ensuring every visitor feels like family.
